Who Are We?
We Are G.R.O.W.T.H
G.R.O.W.T.H, which stands for girls rising over what they hear, is a non-profit organization founded by two-young Durham natives and life-long friends, Asha Freeland and Taylor Dorsey-Flowers. They both share a passion for uplifting and encouraging young girls and giving back to their community. G.R.O.W.T.H is dedicated to the support of young girls as they maneuver through the path of youth and young adulthood. The mission of the organization is to reach, inspire, support, and empower. The organization will provide the foundation for forming mentor and mentee relationships; and will facilitate opportunities for growth through educational and art-based workshops.
Each mentee will be assigned a mentor and will have various opportunities to participate in virtual and in person activities. G.R.O.W.T.H will also be offering free tutorial services and educational resources for mentees and families who are interested.
The founders of G.R.O.W.T.H have testified how strong women have poured into their lives and helped them in unmeasurable ways. The "it takes a village" mindset brings to fruition the African Philosophy Ubuntu,
"I am because we are."
The founders recognize this form of Ubuntuism, so with a thankful heart, they created G.R.O.W.T.H, so that they can pour into the lives of young girls as their village did for them.
Our goal is to reach, inspire, support, and empower. We want to display exceptional influences and role models to motivate and encourage young girls!
A True Mentor Wants To See You Rise To The Top, And We Are Willing To Let You Stand On Our Shoulders To Get There.
